Kenny Lover Ice Cream

This quirky retro ice cream store has a strong emphasis on native Australian ingredients and innovative flavour combinations. On the menu visitors will find lemon lime and thyme, coconut and kaffir lime and some more surprising flavours including soy sauce. Half of the menu is vegan, and they serve hot chips too because who doesn’t want their ice cream served with a side of chips? 796 High Street, Thornbury, 3071.

Piccolina Gelateria

Piccolina Gelateria craft their traditional 100% natural Italian gelato from scratch. They use fresh high-quality ingredients from their nut-butters and caramels to their ganache’s and jams. Their gelato is gluten-free, gelatine-free and are the sorbetti is vegan. This festive season they’re also offering a Gelato Christmas Pudding made from better than Nutella gelato, torrone gelato, 70% dark chocolate layer, caramel cream centre, crisp hazelnut layer, chocolate sponge and caramel sauce topping. Gelateria Primavera

Located at the front of the Spring Street Grocer at the top end of Melbourne’s city centre on leafy Spring Street is Gelateria Primavera. Their gelati and sorbetti is made using the highest quality ingredients, including Saint David's cream, fresh seasonal fruit, nuts and natural flavours. Known for their slightly salty, rich, green Pistachio di Bronte, Gelatieria Primavera makes this classic Italian gelato flavour with a type of pistachio nut grown in a small, mountainous village in Sicily. 157 Spring Street, Melbourne, 3000.

Pidapipo

Inside Pidapipo, Nutella fountains flow, ice cream cakes are constructed, and new flavours are discovered. Owner, Lisa Valmorbida attended gelato university (yes, that’s a thing) in Italy where she learnt the Italian gelato commandments that Pidapipo now lives by. All gelato is made from scratch on site in small batches. Fruit is fresh, never frozen with no artificial flavouring and all recipes are precisely calibrated to create uniform creamy texture and intensity of flavour. Visitors can try flavours including passionfruit pavlova and mojito sorbetto. Various locations across Melbourne including Melbournes’ city centre, Carlton and Windsor.

7 Apples

7 Apples lives by the Italian paddock to plate philosophy and only use fresh seasonal produce straight from the markets to create their handcrafted range of gelati and sorbets daily. Visitors can enjoy a double scoop on in front of Luna Park or enjoy the beach views from the esplanade in St Kilda. Stand out flavours include macadamia dulce de leche and peanut butter brownie. 75 Acland St, St Kilda, 3182.

Regional Victoria

Five Ducks Farm

Located five minutes from Halls Gap town centre in the Grampians is a ‘tiny’ farm handcrafting small batch preserves, grown organically, and yes, they have five ducks. But the star of the show in summer is the small batch homemade ice cream made from free range duck eggs, milk, cream and a little bit of sweetness. Yarra Valley Chocolaterie and Ice Creamery

Known for their extensive selection of chocolates and artisan ice creams the Yarra Valley Chocolateries’ house-made ice creams are made fresh from locally sourced ingredients and seasonal fruits. Visitors can enjoy an ever-changing line up of flavours while taking in the scenic views of the Yarra Valley or at home with their special take home packs. 35 Old Healesville Road, Yarra Glen, 3775.

Timboon Fine Ice Cream

Timboon Fine Ice Cream has been making farm fresh luxury ice cream in Victoria since 1999. The ice cream is churned from local ingredients including milk direct from the neighbour’s farm and cream fresh from the local dairy. Visitors can try flavours including lime and coconut, apple pie and whisky cream. But more importantly, they also cater for furry friends. On the menu is Winnie and Rose doggy ice cream, a dog friendly treat named after their family dogs. Gelatina

Gelatina in a small ice cream shop run by mother-daughter duo in the centre of Rutherglen in Victoria’s High Country. Their gelato is made in store with local produce and customers favourites including Blueberry and citrus. Also, important to note that they offer taste tests and up to three scoops and one litre take home tubs perfect for those who want to savour the flavour over a few days or in one indulgent sitting. 72 Main Street, Rutherglen, 3685

Isola di Capri

Operating since 1972, Isola Di Capri is located in the town centre of Cowes on Phillip Island. Directly opposite the beach, enjoy a double scoop while taking in the views or walking along the pier. Gluten free and dairy free options are also available. 2 Thompson Ave, Cowes, Phillip Island, 3922.

Sunny Ridge Strawberry Farm

Sunny Ridge is a third-generation family owned property located in the beautiful hinterland of the Mornington Peninsula.
