The ACT Government, through StudyCanberra and the Australian National University (ANU) have launched a new joint funded scholarship program for students from India. The scholarship aims to raise awareness of Canberra as a study destination in this important student market for the ACT. India is the fastest growing market for the ANU, as well as the higher education sector generally, but knowledge of Canberra as a study destination is not as high as some other cities. Playing to our city’s strengths by building our higher education sector is a key part of diversifying the ACT economy. This partnership provides StudyCanberra with a unique awareness-raising opportunity in India, and also allows the ANU to target and support high achieving students. The ANU-StudyCanberra India Scholarship will offer 10 scholarships for the Semester 2, 2015 intake for commencing students. The scholarship is a post arrival award for cost of living support, which means that funds will mostly be spent in the local Canberra community. The scholarships are highly competitive and will be offered to high-achieving applicants across a variety of programs and educational levels. ANU Vice-Chancellor Professor Ian Young AO told me that: "ANU is a world-class study destination for international students. This new scholarship program will open up this opportunity to outstanding Indian students.” Applications for the scholarship are now open on the ANU website at www.anu.edu.au/students/scholarships-support/anu-study-canberra-india-scholarship . Students must have an offer from ANU before they can apply for the scholarship.- Statement ends -
