Vikki Kassioras’ ‘Token’ collection at e.g.etal

Melbourne is regarded as an international centre for contemporary jewellery and is home to one of the world’s most vibrant and diverse communities of contemporary jewellery makers, galleries and stores. In an Australian first, Radiant Pavilion (1-6 September, 2015) will celebrate local and international contemporary jewellery and objects with over 170 artists from 17 countries in more than 50 events at venues across Melbourne. At any time of year, the city’s best jewellery can be found at some of these retailers:

e.g. etal is a high end retail gallery in the centre of Melbourne, housing contemporary jewellery pieces from over 50 Australian and New Zealand artists and designers.

Pieces of Eight presents artist made jewellery and small objects. The focus here is on creativity and this extends to working with clients and artists on bespoke commissions.

Gallery Funaki is home to a carefully curated selection of high end jewellery by Australian and international makers. It has become an institution for jewellery in Melbourne and represents some of the most highly regarded makers in the field.

Lord Coconut is the only retailer in Australia dedicated to handcrafted contemporary men’s jewellery. The retail showroom and gallery on Flinders Lane, specialises in contemporary handcrafted rings, necklaces and bracelets for men.

Studio Ingot in Fitzroy showcases the work of its established jewellery artists; the gallery currently represents more than 50 makers. Visitors are encouraged to learn about the creative processes and stories behind the works on display.

Gallery Bini based in Fitzroy, shows an eclectic collection of contemporary jewellery handcrafted by local and international jewellery makers made using both modern and ancient techniques.

Abbotsford Convent is home to contemporary jeweller Katheryn Leopoldseder’s studio and show room, jewellery making workshops and exhibitions.

Camilla Gough creates bespoke jewellery pieces for clients both locally and internationally from her studio in Melbourne’s city centre.

Adrian Lewis creates one-off pieces using precious gems. He works closely with individual clients from his South Yarra studio.

Lucy Folk has become globally recognised for her eponymous brand of jewellery inspired by mouth-watering delicacies. Her flagship store is located on Crossley Street, just a couple of doors down from Gallery Funaki.

Northcity4 is a Brunswick-based artist-run initiative, with a focus on contemporary jewellery. Workshops, seminars and masterclasses are available, along with studio space.
