There is also plenty to do out of the snow too, including hiking through the Alpine National Park, mountain bike riding on one of many tracks, exploring the High Plains on horseback, enjoying a spot of fishing at the tranquil Kiewa River or stocking up on fresh produce from the nearby welcoming farm gates. From the extreme to the serene, Mt Beauty has something for everyone.

Stockpot Stockpot offers a quality eclectic dining experience without the fuss. Here, visitors can enjoy a superbly cooked eye fillet with a glass of fine wine in their thongs, or sink a few stubbies and share pizza and tapas with friends in a tuxedo. Roi’s DinerSet in an unassuming timber shack just five kilometres from Mt Beauty, this modern-Italian restaurant is fitted out with picnic sets, rare books and old phones. The menu features produce from local award-winning producers and winemakers, served with a Swedish twist. Spring Spur Stay Bogong Horseback Adventures’ purpose built riders’ accommodation and lounge offers six en-suite guest rooms with view of the snowcapped peaks. Bogong Horseback Adventures offers a range of horseback tours, from two-hour trail rides to week-long packhorse tours during the summer months. Rides take place in the heart of the High Country, traversing the Alpine National Park’s tall mountain forests, fern gullies and river crossings. Falls Creek Just 30 kilometres away, Victoria’s largest ski resort boasts 65 cross-country ski trails as well as well-groomed, progression-perfect downhill trails and four terrain parks. Tobogganing, snowshoeing, snowmobiling, snow-biking and snow bocce are all available to keep the whole family entertained. Visitors can soak up the après ski atmosphere at one of more than 30 bars and restaurants such as Milch Cafe or ease aching muscles at the luxury Spa Q.Sweetwater Brewing Craft beer tasting paddles take the form of shot glasses atop old skis at Sweetwater Brewing, as a nod to the brewery’s location overlooking Mount Bogong.
