Melbourne’s top 50 Food Map
- Written by Victorian Government
Visit Victoria has created a Melbourne Food Map, curating the city’s top 50 food and drink experiences, for the world’s top 50 chefs.
The chefs will be descending on Melbourne from 31 March to take part in a week of festivities that include the Melbourne Food and Wine Festival and The World’s 50 Best Restaurants awards program.
Featuring categories such as fine dining, casual dining, very Melbourne, late night, hidden Melbourne, coffee and chef faves – the map offers the world’s culinary elite an easy to way to make the most of their time in Australia’s favourite food city.
The map also features six walking trails of one or two kilometres in length, with suggested places to stop in and around the city centre. Trails include; It’s where?, Up late, Very Melbourne, Collingwood & Fitzroy trail, Chapel Street wander and St Kilda stroll – taking in some of the city’s most interesting foodie neighbourhoods and eat streets.
The Chef Faves category provides top tips from four stalwarts of Melbourne’s food and drink scene, Ben Shewry (Attica), Andrew McConnell (Supernormal, Cutler & Co, Marion and more), Jerry Mai (Pho Nom), Matthew Bax (Bar Americano).
Melbourne Food Map in print is a highly-collectible limited-edition welcome gift for guests of The World’s 50 Best Restaurants awards – however the digital version, optimised for mobile, allows any visitor to explore Melbourne’s dynamic and exciting eating and drinking hoods, and to enjoy these trails on their devices at any time. It can be downloaded here.
