March 11 Curtis Stone @ House of Food & Wine, Melbourne Food & Wine Festival

Melbourne’s very own Curtis Stone returns from LA to cook a good old-fashioned barbecue, as well as taking the masterclass stage for a double session moderated by Pat Nourse. Elsewhere, hear top chefs talk about staying creative, participate in a rosé tasting, or try the bespoke food creations from Sundae School Ice Creamery, Belles Hot Chicken and Mamasita.

March 12 Love, Immigration Museum

Developed in partnership with Heide Museum of Modern art, Love combines visual art, historic and contemporary artefacts, and personal reflections from the community and visitors to explore love in all its joyous, illogical, heart-breaking and tender glory.

March 13 Formula 1® Season Launch, Federation Square

To mark the start of the 2019 FIA Formula 1 World Championship, Melbourne will play host to the inaugural season launch event.

Hosted by Formula 1®, Federation Square will come alive with the free extravaganza as all 20 drivers, 10 Team Principals and with legends of the sport participate in the live stage show, bringing the heroes of Formula 1® to the public for the first time in the sport’s history.

March 14 Opening Night, Melbourne Queer Film Festival

Film lovers united for the Melbourne Queer Film Festival, with Matt Bomer to star in opening film, Papi Chulo.

Director John Butler (Handsome Devil, MQFF 2016) has created a funny, tender and surprising comedy that brims with compassion and empathy, providing a much-needed anecdote to the division and hate that is so prevalent in the current political landscape.

March 15 Mornington Peninsula World’s Longest Lunch, Melbourne Food and Wine Festival

At the Mornington Peninsula Regional World’s Longest Lunch, guests will wine and dine amongst the vines of Montalto Vineyard and Olive Grove with a long lunch presented by Montalto chef Gerald Phelan and Jackalope Hotel's executive chef Guy Stanaway.

Enjoy a sensational three-course menu showcasing the best of the Peninsula's produce, with canapés on arrival and matched wines from Montalto Estate and Willow Creek Vineyard.

March 16 The Village Feast, Melbourne Food & Wine Festival

The perfect dose of fun, The Village Feast is the day trip of dreams. March 18 Tudors to Windsor, Bendigo Art Gallery

Tudors to Windsors traces the history of the British monarchy through the outstanding collection of the National Portrait Gallery, London. This exhibition highlights major events in British (and world) history from the sixteenth century to the present, examining the ways in which royal portraits were impacted by both the personalities of individual monarchs and wider historical change.

March 19 The Krystyna Campbell-Pretty Fashion Gift, National Gallery of Victoria

Featuring designers from Charles Frederick Worth, the celebrated father of haute couture, to the iconoclastic Alexander McQueen, the exhibition includes over 200 garments and archive works from the extensive fashion research collection comprising hundreds of designers’ sketches; workbooks; photographs; and fashion magazines, journals and periodicals from the early nineteenth century onwards.

March 20 Empire Rone, Burnham Beeches

Empire is Australia’s internationally renowned artist Rone’s most ambitious takeover yet.

Set amongst the decaying glory of art deco mansion, Burnham Beeches in Victoria’s stunning Yarra Ranges, it is a multi-sensory experience — part exhibition, part installation, part Virtual Reality and Augmented Reality experience that combines art, vision, sound, light, botanical design and scent.

March 21 Richmond v Carlton, Melbourne Cricket Ground

March 24 Fromage a Trois Cheese Festival, Melbourne Food and Wine Festival

Set in the stunning surrounds of Werribee Park Mansion on the final day of the Melbourne Food and Wine Festival, Fromage a Trois Cheese Festival will take visitors from farm gate to picnic blanket, with the best in artisan cheese and local produce.

March 25 The Australian Ballet presents Cinderella

Made especially for The Australian Ballet by Alexei Ratmansky, the world’s most in-demand choreographer, this Cinderella has all the elements of the story we know and love – a feisty heroine, a dashing prince, a kindly godmother and a deliciously wicked stepmother – with some fantastical additions.

March 26 Sidney Nolan Ned Kelly Series, Geelong Gallery

For the first time in 15 years, the National Gallery of Australia’s collection of Sidney Nolan’s ‘Ned Kelly’ paintings is touring Australia in its entirety. The national tour gives Australians across the country the chance to experience some of the most famous and poignant masterpieces of 20th century Australian art.

March 27 Opening Gala, Melbourne International Comedy Festival

March 28 Hannah Gadsby: Douglas, Melbourne International Comedy Festival
