Joint media release: Chief Minister Andrew Barr and Dr Chris Bourke MLA
The Connect and Participate (CAP) Expo being held today is a great way for the community to discover the many social groups and clubs on offer across Canberra.
This is the third CAP Expo and each year it gets bigger and better with more than 8,000 people expected to attend this year’s event.
With 160 stalls, performances on four stages and come-and-try activities and food stalls, the CAP Expo is a great way to meet new people, make new friends, learn new skills and have fun.
I encourage everyone to attend the CAP Expo and pick from a wide range of activities to try and groups to join.
Minister for Veterans and Seniors Dr Chris Bourke said that there’s something for everyone of all ages and abilities to get involved with - from choirs, bmx riders, rowers, martial artists, ukulele players, artists, dancers, roller bladders, environmentalists, poets, writers, quilters, model car racers, unicyclists, to groups of animal lovers, Star Wars devotees and much more.
“The CAP Expo is a great way for people to find groups and clubs to be a part of, which is something particularly important for people with disability,” Dr Bourke said. “I would also encourage all seniors to get active and take part in new experiences.”
The CAP Expo runs today from 11am to 4pm at the Old Bus Depot Markets, Kingston. Entry is free.
Free ACTION buses every 15 minutes from Fyshwick Park & Ride, Tom Price St (just off Canberra Ave).
