Two special balloons will feature in this year’s Canberra Balloon Spectacular bringing fun and colour to the capital’s skies this autumn.
Owlbert Eyenstein, a larger than life owl, and the Disney movie inspired Up hot air balloon will feature prominently across the nine day festival.
In addition to the special shapes, 40 registered hot air balloons sourced from as far as the United Kingdom and the United States will be participating in the 2016 Canberra Balloon Spectacular.
Returning for its 30th year from Saturday 12 March until Sunday 20 March this iconic Canberra event offers a community celebration with plenty of excitement on the ground and in the air.
Balloons launch daily from 6.15am on the lawns of Old Parliament House against the distinctive backdrop of Canberra’s national attractions.
Breakfast, courtesy of the Belconnen Lions Club, will be available each morning with proceeds of all purchases donated back into the Canberra community. Last year, more than $30,000 was donated to local charities.
Each year thousands of spectators attend the Canberra Balloon Spectacular and enjoy the early morning flight atmosphere with family and friends. More than 30 000 spectators are expected to attend this year, with crowds swelling to approximately 5000 on Saturday and Sunday mornings.
Don’t miss the action at this year’s Balloon Spectacular, which is free for spectators.
