Minister Barr: Farewell to Canberra Capitals legends

I’ve been watching the Canberra Capitals for many years, and it’s always felt like both Carrie Graf and Jess Bibby have been ‘part of the furniture’ at AIS Arena.
Jess will finish her career as the most capped player in WNBL history, while Carrie will leave the team after an astonishing 15 years as coach.
Jess and Carrie have been a part of many successful seasons at the Capitals. Under Carrie’s leadership, the Capitals become one of the most successful women’s sporting teams in Australia, leading the team to six national titles.
They have been wonderful ambassadors for the team and for women’s basketball in the Canberra community. They have also given up their time to support local community organisations.
I’m sure Jess and Carrie will leave a long-lasting legacy on the Canberra Capitals team and they will be missed by both their teammates and their supporters. I wish them both well.
