Today I was delighted to join Aspen Medical co-founder and Executive Director Glenn Keys in Austin to launch the company’s new 24-hour ambulance service in South Texas.
Aspen Medical is in the business of saving lives, and is a true Canberra success story. As Chief Minister it makes me incredibly proud to see local businesses thriving and enjoying success abroad, and of course Aspen Medical is one of our city’s prime examples of the extraordinary products and services that Canberra companies can share with the world.
It is my hope that Aspen Medical will inspire other local businesses and entrepreneurs in our city to dream big, and to use their talents, creativity and innovation to make a difference both at home and abroad.
Aspen Medical is providing health care services in some of the most far-reaching corners of the globe, and is making a real, positive impact in some of the direst situations.
The new South Texas 24-hour ambulance service is being described by Aspen Medical as reliable and affordable, and will see a fleet of ambulances providing transfers to hospitals in San Antonio, offering timely ambulance and patient transport services where there currently are none.
The service will be restricted to the initial catchment area at first, but Aspen Medical has plans to extend the operation to other areas of South Texas over the coming months. As we have seen with Aspen Medical in their short but illustrious history, this company does not rest on its laurels. There are always more people to help and Aspen Medical is committed to helping them.
Aspen Medical has already been operating a private ambulance service across the United Arab Emirates (UAE) in the Gulf region for a number of years, and in the last 12 months alone they have been working with governments in Australia, the United States and the United Kingdom to help stop the spread of Ebola in West Africa.
Aspen Medical has been named the ACT Exporter of the Year three times, in recognition of their international growth through the company’s commitment to innovation and excellence, and they have also been named a winner twice at the Australian Export Awards.
I am committed to growing Canberra’s reputation as a smart and vibrant city and companies like Aspen Medical certainly fit this vision. I congratulate them on the success they have so far enjoyed and I wish them all the best with this latest service in South Texas.
