Minister Barr: Canberra springs to life with Floriade 2015
- Written by ACT Government
Released 11/09/2015
Today I officially launched Floriade 2015 – the nation’s biggest celebration of spring, which begins in Commonwealth Park tomorrow.
Floriade is one of Canberra’s biggest events, attracting over 480,000 visitors and contributing more than $47 million in direct expenditure to the Territory.
Now in its 28th year, Floriade heralds the arrival of the warmer months with yet another fantastic program inspired by the theme of Reflection.
This year’s garden beds serve as floral tributes to the 100th anniversary of the ANZAC landings at Gallipoli, representing iconic symbols of war and peace. In addition to the beautiful garden beds, Floriade offers gardening workshops, cooking demonstrations, musical performances and a huge range of family-friendly entertainment.
Floriade continues to achieve outstanding results in terms of overall attendance and economic return to the ACT. These are exceptional results and figures we hope to expand on this year.
Floriade runs from tomorrow until 11 October 2015. For full program details, visit floriadeaustralia.com
