Today I launched a mobile friendly version of the Road Ready Learner Licence Knowledge Trainer, designed to help young divers practice the licence tests required in the ACT.
Access Canberra, the agency designed to improve engagement with ACT Government services, developed the software after analysing data that showed a vast majority of students access the practice tests on a mobile device, despite the site being previously designed for a desktop computer.
This is a practical example of what Access Canberra was designed to achieve – helping to make it easier for Canberrans to use ACT Government services.
The ACT Road Ready Program is a major driver education project. The aim of the program is to reduce the number and severity of road crashes involving young drivers in the ACT. The Program, which is designed to help prepare young ACT people to become safer and more responsible drivers, is available through community based organisations, service providers and ACT schools.
The Road Ready website includes the Learner Licence Knowledge Trainer which helps students and learner licence applicants understand and learn the ACT road rules before they begin to learn to drive.
During the development of the mobile friendly Practice Test, Access Canberra worked with Melba Copland Secondary School and the Road Ready Centre to ensure the Knowledge Trainer met the needs of its audience.
