The new Raiders Centre is now open and ready for the rugby league community. This ambitious project brings together the Rugby League community, elite players, up and coming stars, and fans from across the ACT and NSW surrounds.

Today I was joined by Deputy Chief Minister Yvette Berry and NSW Deputy Premier John Barilaro to officially open the $19 million facility, which is a collaborative project of the ACT Government, NSW government, and Canberra District Rugby League.

In addition to the $5 million investment by the ACT Government, the NSW Government has contributed $4 million to the development, supporting the Canberra District Rugby Leagues $10 million investment.

The site will be used by the Canberra Raiders as a new high-performance training venue and features elite level training and rehabilitation spaces, administrative offices and community rooms.

Minister for Sport and Recreation, Yvette Berry said “This state-of-the-art facility will help attract and retain elite players, while supporting community rugby league programs.

“This facility will host grass roots rugby league, school coaching clinics, ACT and school touch football competitions, community coaching programs and Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander carnivals.

“Facilities like these are so important to help encourage our kids to stay active and provide a stepping stone for young Canberrans with dreams to progress their sporting careers,” said Minister Berry.

Quotes attributable to Don Furner, CEO, Canberra Raiders:

“I would like to thank the ACT Government and NSW Government for partnering with the Canberra District Rugby League to bring this new development to life. We look forward to the new Raiders Centre benefiting the Raiders programs and the broader rugby league community in the ACT and surrounding region for many years to come”.
