Minister Barr: Better access to bulk billing for Canberra’s Southside

The ACT Government is delivering on our commitment to encourage better access to bulk billing GPs in Canberra’s south.
This Budget will invest to ensure Canberrans have access to better health services where and when they need them, as part of our 10-Year Health Plan.
“Our GPs and allied health professionals are pivotal to the health system,” Minister for Health Meegan Fitzharris said.
“Improving access to GP bulk-billing and allied healthcare such as psychologists and physiotherapists is an important part of strengthening the health services available in our suburbs.
“That’s why we will provide grants to GP groups to extend local bulk billing.”
The Budget will deliver $1 million over three years to incentivise more GP groups to deliver bulk-billed care, including allied healthcare services.
“As our city continues to grow, ensuring that Canberrans can access affordable services close to their homes is a priority for this government,” Minister Fitzharris said.
“This will not only make these important primary health care services more affordable, but also ensure better coordinated care for patients.
“There are successful GP bulk-billing models already operating in the ACT through practices like the National Health Co-op. This Budget initiative demonstrates our commitment to working with innovative health sector partners to increase access to bulk-billing and improve health and wellbeing for Canberrans.”
