Minister Barr: Get to know the Canberra Region to live, visit, invest

The Canberra Region has a new online home thanks to collaboration by the ACT Government, the NSW Government and Canberra Region Joint Organisation.
The Canberra Region website provides tourists, locals and potential investors with insights and tips about the ski slopes, pristine beaches, vast country landscapes and a vibrant capital city that make up this diverse region.
The website has been launched in festival style today with local wines, livestock and produce on show at the Canberra Airport, with ACT Chief Minister Andrew Barr, NSW Deputy Premier John Barilaro, Canberra Region Joint Organisation, Cr Kristy McBain, Mayor of Bega Valley Shire Council and other regional champions.
Andrew Barr, ACT Chief Minister said:
“Canberra has been named one of the top ten cities in the world to visit in 2018, thanks in part to our proximity to the mountains, the coast and the nearby wine regions.
“Promoting the wider Canberra region is a key priority of the ACT Government, so it’s great to be part of this ongoing effort to highlight everything the region has to offer.”
John Barilo, Deputy Premier of NSW said:
“The NSW Government is working arm in arm with our colleagues in the ACT Government and Local Government across the entire Canberra Region to secure our economic, social and environmental future.
“The Canberra Region website is a fantastic joint initiative that will act as a gateway to our coast line, snowy mountains, the Australian Capital and showcase our agricultural landscape that produces some of the world’s finest wool, seafood, wine, stone fruit and beef.”
Canberra Region Joint Organisation Cr Kristy McBain said:
“I want to acknowledge our regional champions. These individuals have harnessed the unique advantages of the region, made excellent progress and demonstrated the best of the Australian spirit. Their initiative, optimism and passion for collaboration have led to ideas that have placed the Canberra region on the world map.”

The CBR Region consists of four sub regions, each of which has its unique characteristics.
- The Coast: renowned for its unspoilt treasures- a tranquil, beautiful place that attracts tourists from all over the world, famous for its white sandy beaches, crystal clear waters and lush green hinterland;
- The Alpine District: for its spirit of adventure- that offers an array of exciting activities that you can enjoy all year round;
- The Tablelands: for its natural beauty and vast country landscapes, world class produce and warm and welcoming hospitality; and
- The City: a cosmopolitan hub sitting at the heart of this diverse region, driving world class research, offering a thriving business and arts scene and opening up our region to brilliant possibilities with its growing connections to the world.
The CBR Region website will be a platform to celebrate the Canberra region, it’s unique opportunities and potential, along with inspiring people to explore new ideas and take a chance in the Canberra Region.
